Kazuri Designs
Kazuri, which means "small and beautiful" in Swahili, are made by Nairobi women. These ceramic beads are made from clay brought down from Mt. Kenya, handpainted, then kiln fired, glazed, and fired again.
Kazuri has supported struggling women since 1975 in an effort to bring employment and economic relief to the region. It now employs over 350 women who provide for family members.
Because every Kazuri bead is handmade, each one is unique and slight variations in color and shape are inevitable. This is what makes Kazuri so special to those who treasure custom designed jewelry.
